” He was Bill’s “Fidus Achates;” Statement is actually their adoration. They had been males together with her, and hero-worship out of significant youthfulness is actually just intensified inside the man. The guy copied Bill’s skirt, his gait, their carriage, their speech-everything he could copy; the guy help their much time red hair fall lowest through to their shoulders when you look at the wistful imitation regarding Bill’s sleek brownish curls. He took more proper care of Bill’s guns and you may ponies than just the guy performed of his own; and so, as he in the long run stated, one night from the Laramie, the right to getting recognized by the other term than just effortless Jim Light-some thing descriptive, because it was in fact, away from their accessory getting CODY, and you may lifelong determination so you can their idol, “BUFFALO Costs,” a beneficial grim quartermaster (Morton, of your Ninth Infantry), called him “BUFFALO Potato chips,” in addition to title are a fixture!
